In Italian culture, why is it considered bad luck to wear gold on your wedding day?

Last week’s trivia: In a traditional wedding ceremony, the bride stands on the left, and the groom stands on her right.  Why is this?  ANSWER: The traditional set-up for a ceremony was designed back when there was still a possibility that the men would need to fight off invaders trying to “steal” the bride.  The groom and his men stood to the right so they could grasp their sword with their free right hand to defend their lady’s honor.

Wedding Tip of the Week

Outdoor weddings are such a big trend right now, but it’s easy to overlook the comfort of your guests while creating the most memorable moments of your wedding day.  It is important to remember that Texas weather has mood swings worse than a pregnant lady, and there are many ways to ensure that your guests are just as happy as you are! 


In the heat of a Texas summer, I would suggest galvanized tin buckets filled with ice and monogrammed water bottles, a custom pink lemonade drink station at the back of your aisle, ceremony programs printed on fans, or ask to borrow or rent one or two industrial fans from your venue and tie ribbons in your wedding colors to fly in the breeze. 

In the cooler months, you might consider offering your guests lap blankets in your wedding colors, renting propane area heaters, or offering a custom drink station of spiced cider or hot chocolate.
